V. Sriharan alias Murugan, one of the life convicts in Rajiv Gandhi assassination case lodged in Vellore Central Prison, was produced in Vellore judicial magistrate-I court on Thursday in connection with a case pertaining to his possession of mobile phones in the prison.

A prison official allegedly seized two mobile phones, SIM cards and a charger from Murugan in his cell on March 25. Bagayam police registered a case. However, Murugan denied the charge.

Judicial magistrate-I N. Alicia posted the case for May 18. Murugan’s mother Somani Ammal came to court to meet him.
