Condemning the “inefficient management, corruption and financial irregularities” in the administration, members of Manonmaniam Sundaranar University Teaching and Administrative Staff Welfare Association staged demonstration on the university premises at Abhishekapatti on Thursday.

Led by president of the association E. Raja Justus, a faculty member, the protestors raised slogans against the Vice-Chancellor and blamed him for the condition of the university.

The protestors said appropriate action should be taken on the Comptroller and Auditor General’s reports that cited several irregularities in the MSU administration and audited accounts, provident fund slips and stock verification report for the past five years should be provided.

Accusing the Vice-Chancellor of adopting “double standards” in the Career Advancement Scheme promotion, the protestors said promotion of one Revathi should be communicated to the authorities concerned.

The university should follow UGC norms for M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes that no supervisor should be allowed to have more than 8 research scholars at any given point of time.

The protestors also demanded CBI enquiry into the mysterious deaths of MSU staff Venkatasamy and Mariappan and lecturer Tamilarasu.

Office-bearers of the association R. Ramesh, M. Maria Igno Rajesh, P. Suresh, V. Samuel Gnanaprakash and others participated in the demonstration.
