A brand new motorcycle was found entangled in a fishing net belonging to a fisherman of Adhipattinam coastal village near Manamelkudi in the district on Monday.

The 150cc motorcycle in red and black was seized by the Coastal Security Group personnel and later handed over to a revenue official. Police sources said two fishermen Mohamed Sultan and Raja Mohamed set sail in a fibre boat from Adhipattinam coastal village on Sunday night.

The fishermen returned to the shore on Monday morning only to find a new motorcycle with “For Registration” sticker on it having got entangled in the fishing net.

No claim

As there was no claimant for the vehicle, the fishermen informed the Village Administrative Officer who in turn alerted the Coastal Security Group (CSG) personnel of Manamelkudi.

The CSG unit at Manamelkudi booked a case under section 102 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (power of police officer to seize certain property).

Thereafter, the property was handed over to the Manamelkudi Tahsildar.
