More than 50,000 added to voters list

Women outnumber men

Another 50,410 persons have been newly added to the electoral roll of Vellore district. With this, the total number of voters in the district as on April 29 is 30,32,986 – 14,93,953 men, 15,38,954 women and 79 transgenders.

On Friday, Collector Rajendra Ratnoo released the supplementary electoral roll that was under continuous updation from January 21 to April 29. As per the electoral roll published in January – there were a total of 29,84,534 voters – 14,72,146 men, 15,12,330 women and 58 transgenders – in the 13 Assembly constituencies.

The latest addition comprises – 22,767 men, 27,622 women and 21 transgenders. The number of new voters added in Vellore constituency was 6,040.

As part of this exercise, forms received from the public for inclusion of names, deletion and correction were scrutinised.

Following submission of forms for deletion of names, a total of 1,958 names – 960 men and 998 women – have been removed from the electoral roll.

Except in one constituency, women voters outnumber men. Only Vaniyambadi constituency has slightly more men voters than women – 1,11,695 men and 1,11,574 women.

Gudiyatham constituency accounts for the highest number of women voters with 1,33,403 voters.

It is also the constituency with the highest number of voters in the district with 2,62,968. This is followed by Sholinghur constituency with 2,57,250 voters.

Number of voters in other constituencies – Arakkonam – 2,19,551, Katpadi – 2,29,482, Ranipet – 2,47,369, Arcot – 2,46,513, Vellore – 2,49,455, Anaicut – 2,31,517, Kilvaithinankuppam- 2,05,299, Vaniyambadi – 2,23,284, Ambur-2,12,246, Jolarpet- 2,23,303 and Tirupattur – 2,24,749.
