Moneylender’s house burgled

Burglars stole Rs. 8.10 lakh in cash from the house of a moneylender in Melapalayam on Friday night.

Police said burglars who entered the house of Paulpandi (64), a moneylender from Raja Nagar in Melapalayam, after breaking the lock in the front door of his house on Friday night, stole Rs. 8.10 lakh in cash.

Since Mr. Paulpandi had been admitted to the hospital for treatment, his wife Pitchammal was with him.

When she returned home on Saturday morning, the crime came to light.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Tirunelveli City, P. Rajan visited the spot, which was scanned by the fingerprint experts also. Melapalayam police have registered a case.
