Money distribution case against AIADMK candidate

Police on Saturday registered a case against seven persons, including AIADMK candidate for Rajapalayam constituency A.A.S. Shyam and Rajapalayam municipal councillor Mariappan, for distributing money to cadre. The charge is that Mariappan had distributed money to women who performed ‘aarathi’ to the candidate at a temple. The seven persons were accused of seeking votes there. The case was booked under Section 171 (h) of the IPC. The police also booked them for unlawful assembly and disobeying the order promulgated by public servant for starting the election campaign.

Meanwhile, the Madurai police booked a case against AIADMK’s Sholavandan candidate K. Manickam and two others for carrying a bundle of 80 dhotis in a car in his election campaign convoy on Saturday.
