Naam Tamilar Katchi activists attacked the office of the general sales agent of Mihin Lanka, a Sri Lankan airline, at Kalavasal junction on Wednesday and damaged furniture and computers.

The police said they came to the office, broke the window panes, damaged five desktop computers and a laptop and furniture. Telephones and a credit card swiping machine were also broken. Six employees of the Translanka Air Travels were at the office when the incident occurred. However, none of the employees was injured. An employee said four persons came to the office on Tuesday and enquired about its functioning.

The police said the employees had not alerted them about the informal enquiries made by this group.

Thirty supporters of the Naam Tamilar Katchi, who later staged a road roko near the junction, were arrested, the police said. They were booked under Sections 147, 148, 448, 506 (2) of the IPC and provisions of the Tamil Nadu Public Property (Prevention of Damage and Loss) Act, 1992.
