The increase in the discharge from the dams in Karnataka – Kabini and Krishna Raja Sagar – led to a sharp rise of 10 feet in the water level, on a single day, in the Stanley Reservoir at Mettur in Salem.

From Friday morning to early Saturday, the level rose from 19 ft to 29 ft because of the inflow increasing from 9,523 cubic feet per second (cusecs) to 37,969 cusecs.
