Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) and Agricultural Research Station (ARS), Virinjipuram recently convened a meeting with officials of the Animal Husbandry Department, Veterinary University Training and Research Centre and Fisheries Department of Vellore for preparing the annual action plan for 2015-2016.
The meeting discussed the technical problems prevailing in animal and poultry farming in Vellore district. Technical interventions in foot and mouth diseases in animals, Ranikhet disease in birds, and infertility in cattle and embryonic mortality in goat were discussed, according to a press release.
Introduction of new varieties of green fodder and new breeds for rural backyard poultry were also discussed. M. Pandiyan, professor and head of ARS and KVK, T. Manoharan, joint director, Animal Husbandry, S. Saraswathi, assistant professor and head, VUTRC and Mercy Amala, inspector of fisheries were present, the release added.
