Praising the way the Delhi police has handled the case thus far, the family of Sharath Prabhu, the medical student hailing from Tirupur, who was found dead in his residence in New Delhi, have expressed confidence that the law enforcement officials would soon unravel the mystery surrounding his death.

The parents of the deceased have decided to wait for the detailed medical report before considering the future course of action.

“We definitely want to know the answers to the questions surrounding his death. There are adequate reasons to suspect foul play, as Sharath spoke in a very normal tone with family members over the phone even on the previous night [before he was found dead]. Except for some passing remarks a few months ago on the pressures of doing long hours of medical duty as part of his postgraduate studies, Sharath did not have any complaints otherwise,” said P. Jayakanthan, a paternal uncle of the deceased.

‘Expedite forensic report’

Prominent political leaders including Minister Uduamalai Radhakrishnan, former Union Minister G.K. Vasan, MLAs T.T.V. Dhinakaran and S. Gunasekaran, former MP K. Subbarayan of the CPI and former MLA K. Thangavel of the CPI(M) paid visits to Sharath Prabhu’s house in Tirupur.

Meanwhile, the Tirupur branch of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has approached the Union Health Ministry, seeking steps to expedite the forensic report on Sharath Prabhu’s death.

“Sharath Prabhu’s death is a matter of concern, considering that it is the second case of the death of a postgraduate medical student from Tirupur in New Delhi within the span of one-and-a-half years,” IMA (Tirupur branch) president A. Nazeer said.
