Medical camp for livestock

Milch animals have been provided to 3,300 beneficiaries at a cost of Rs.11.57 crore during the past five years, O.S.Manian, Minister for Handlooms and Textiles, said here on Saturday.

Inaugurating a special medical camp under the livestock protection scheme at Umbalacheri, he said goats have been provided to 23,100 beneficiaries at a cost of Rs.29.88 crore.

Prevention of disease

The Minister for Handlooms and Textiles said 161 medical camps would be held in the 11 panchayat unions under the livestock protection scheme to screen the animals and ensure prevention of diseases.

He distributed prizes to nine owners of best calves in the panchayat.
