Man found murdered

A 55-year-old man was thrashed to death at Vennandur here on Sunday.

The police said that Meiyalagan, a cook, recently came here from Tiruchengode to cast vote. He sought money from his son for consuming liquor. As his son refused, Meiyalagan did not return home on Saturday. On Sunday, he was found murdered near a lake in Vennandur with his face thrashed. Liquor bottles were found near his body. Post-mortem examination was done at the Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College Hospital and the body handed over to relatives. Vennandur police are investigating.

Autorickshaws

seized

Following an accident involving an autorickshaw that was overloaded with people, officials involved in vehicle check seized nine vehicles that transported people illegally.

An autorickshaw driven by Jegadeesan (21) of Jedarpalayam turned on its side in which over 15 people were injured. They were admitted to government hospitals in Erode and Tiruchengode. Collector V. Dakshinamoorthy who visited the injured at the hospital said that action will be taken against autorickshaws that illegally transport people. Based on it, officials of the Regional Transport Office inspected vehicles in Kandampalayam area and seized nine vehicles.

Girl run over by bus

A 15-year-old girl was run over by a Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation bus after it hit the two-wheeler she was riding on Mysuru Road on Sunday. According to the police, the victim, Savitha, was riding without helmet along with her brother at the time of the accident, which took place between Nayandahalli and Bangalore University. The bus driver was arrested.
