Maiden trial run at Kattupalli port

January 10, 2013 01:14 pm | Updated 01:17 pm IST - CHENNAI:

The departure of container vessel Maersk Dalton from L&T Kattupalli Port on Tuesday marked the successful completion of maiden trial run.

According to official sources, the vessel arrived early in the morning from Chennai Port Trust.

It was a hectic day for the officials as they tested the systems, crane operations and immigration procedures.

In the evening, the vessel left for Visakhapatnam port by carrying 928 twenty foot equivalent units of empty containers.

“It is a good sign as everything went as per plan and without any hitch. We are ready to handle more container ships,” said a port user.
