Lucky escape for passengers, but driver dies

Eight passengers suffered injuries when a government bus proceeding to Salem from Hosur overturned near Anjaneyar Temple in Thoppur Ghat section of the Dharmapuri-Salem National Highway on Saturday night. But, the driver of the bus succumbed to injuries.

According to the police, the accident occurred due to break failure.

The driver lost control and the bus hit the median throwing the driver V. Radhakrishnan, hailing from Thinnamelupalli in Krishnagiri, out of the bus. He died on the spot.

The injured have been admitted to the Government Medical College Hospital in Dharmapuri. Thoppur police have registered a case and are investigating.
