At least 15 districts have been badly affected by the monsoon flooding and the State government should give relief to the affected in all those districts instead of restricting the survey of loss by senior IAS officials to eight districts, Tamil Nadu Vivasayigal Sangam has said.
Talking to reporters here on Monday, its State president K. Balakrishnan said that though Delta districts were worst affected, there were many more districts that were partly hit. He sought Rs. 15,000 compensation for every acre of paddy crop lost, Rs. 25,000 for an acre of onion, Rs. 10,000 for pulses and cotton and Rs. 6,000 each for each goat/sheep killed and Rs. 15,000 for each cow/buffalo. Stating that farm hands were rendered jobless, he wanted the State government to distribute 25 kg of rice free of cost.
