Inter-State traffic along the Sathy-Mysore Highway was paralysed for six hours after a coir dust laden lorry overturned reportedly owing to brake failure near Hasanur on Sunday morning.

Several hundreds of passengers were stranded on either side of the National Highway as police took time to clear the road. Fire personnel from Hasanur quickly put out the flames that were about to engulf the diesel tank, local sources said.

Lorry driver Guruvayurappan (47), cleaner Chidambaram (32), Tirupathi (37) and Mani (38), who were travelling in the lorry to Chikmagalur from Pollachi, were admitted to Sathy Government Hospital.
