Mahila Court here has awarded a life term to a man for beating his wife to death suspecting her fidelity. Palani of North Peyankuzhi in this district had beaten to death his wife Jayaseeli on December 25, 2011. Palani and his friends Vetrivel, Somasundaram, Thangadurai and Devaraj had attacked Jayaseeli when she was talking to her relative at her parent’s residence. The Eraniel police registered a case. Mahila Court Judge A. Kayalvizhi awarded a life sentence to Palani and slapped a fine of Rs. 17,500. The judge imposed a fine of Rs. 2500 to Vetrivel and Rs. 2000 each to Somasundaram, Thangadurai and Deveraj.
