Sidelined AIADMK deputy general secretary T.T.V. Dhinakaran on Thursday termed the income tax raids on the premises of Jaya TV in Chennai and its associates for suspected tax evasion, a reflection of "political animosity."
“One cannot be deceiving oneself to say that the Income Tax department is functioning independently when searches are going on simultaneously at 150 places,” he told reporters outside his house in Adyar, Chennai.
Dhinakaran contended that the developments were due to his stand on demonetisation. They would not deter him or party workers. “Let them put me behind the bars even for 25 years. The party will be run by last rung workers,” he said.
He wondered what follow-up action had been taken after last year’s searches on the premises of industrialist and sand mining baron Sekar Reddy and businessman Anbunathan.
