A leopard was trapped at Kodanad near Kotagiri on Saturday.

According to the Assistant Conservator of Forests in-charge, the Nilgiris North, the male leopard, aged between 4 and 6 years, moved into one of the cages placed near a habitation above the Kodanad View Point.

The cages had been kept in the area by the Forest department following complaints that a carnivore had killed three goats. The animal was sedated by Forest veterinarian N.S.Manoharan and released at Avalanche near here. It was a suitable place to relocate leopards. The number of leopards trapped in Kodanad over the last few months has gone up to three.
