The State CPI and CPI( M) has convened a special conference in Chennai on October 7 to discuss the spiralling price rise of the essential commodities.

N. Varadarajan, State secretary of the CPI(M), told this to reporters here on Tuesday. He said, his party condemned the Dharmapuri Municipality’s indifferent attitude towards 55 Dalit families living in Sengodipuram in Dharmapuri.

He further said, the resolution adopted by the Municipality went against the interests of Dalits who were working as scavengers in the same local administration. Political parties cutting across party lines supported the CPI (M)'s continuous agitation from September 8. If, the Dalits in Sengodipuram area were denied patta, then the party will stage state wide agitation, Mr. Varadarajan warned.
