Thisaiyanvilai police have arrested a labourer for allegedly murdering his wife. Police said L. Mahaboob Sheriff of Madurai, who frequently visited Aaththankarai mosque to offer prayers, shifted his family to nearby Pettaikulam 10 years ago and constructed a house there.
Suspicion
As Sheriff suspected his wife Shameem Bhanu of having an illicit affair with a person, he frequently quarrelled with her.
When a few of his friends told him on Wednesday evening that his wife was speaking to a stranger, a heated argument resurfaced between the couple around 10 p.m. on Wednesday.
Suddenly, Sheriff allegedly hacked his wife, mother of two girls, to death and surrendered before Urumankulam Village Administrative Officer Kumar.
He was handed over to Thisaiyanvilai police.
