The Special Public Prosecutor appointed by the State Government for the Dalit youth Shankar murder case trial, U. Sankaranarayanan, examined a total of five key technical witnesses in the case on Friday.
On the day, Mr. Shankaranarayan initially examined Dr. Priyalakshmi, the doctor at taluk government hospital at Udumalpet who was attended to Shankar and his wife Kausalya when they were brought with injuries immediately after the gang attacked them.
This was followed by the examining of Dr. Muthuraj, who performed CT scan on Kausalya and detected fracture in the head at Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital, and Dr. Kulanthaivel, also of CMCH, who detected 32 injuries on the body of Shankar during autopsy.
Forensic expert
Venkateswaran, a forensic expert from Coimbatore who tested the blood stains in the weapons and clothes worn by Shankar as well as Kausalya, and Shembagavalli, the employee at judicial magistrate court at Udumalpet who received the weapons and other clothes when produced by the police in the court, were the others examined. Principal District and Sessions Judge Alamelu Natarajan posted the next hearing to August 2.
