DMK president M. Karunanidhi on Thursday ruled out any possibility of a DMK-Congress-DMDK front for the Lok Sabha polls. “Only the media is rife with such speculations. There are no indications to this effect. The situation has not emerged for it,” he told reporters at his Gopalapuram residence before leaving for Tiruchi to attend the party’s conference.
Asked about the party’s prospects in the Lok Sabha polls, he said, “Do you think we will enter the fray without expecting victory.”
Mr. Karunanidhi said the conferences organised by the DMK in the past had been “turning points” in the history of the DMK and the Tiruchi conference would draw the attention of the Indian sub-continent.
To a question whether the Tiruchi conference would bring about a change in the political alliances in the State, he said changes were unlikely to happen once alliances were firmed up.
Asked whether new parties would join the DMK alliance, he said it might happen or might not happen. “But we will unitedly implement our decision,” he said.
