Karunanidhi refutes charge

December 31, 2012 01:30 am | Updated 01:30 am IST - CHENNAI:

DMK president M. Karunanidhi on Sunday joined issue with Chief Minister Jayalalithaa over her accusation that he had failed to get the final order of the Cauvery Water Tribunal notified, wondering why she was keen on notifying an order that she had once described as anti-Tamil Nadu.

Responding to her allegations, he recalled her remarks criticizing the terms of the final award.

He said despite the party’s criticism of the final award, AIADMK representatives attended the all-party meeting convened by the State once on February 19, 2007 and again on April 15 in the same year.

“The AIADMK representatives made a strong case against the award. Now, Ms. Jayalalithaa wants the same award to be notified,” he said.
