Describing Mr. Sivasailam as a legendary industry leader of his time, Assocham president Dilip Modi said he was known for his straightforwardness and crisp and clear understanding of business and economic issues, and that he fought with courage.

The Assocham was fortunate enough in receiving his leadership as its president, Mr. Modi said, adding Mr. Sivasailam would be remembered for his valued contributions to industry, education and philanthropy.

SICCI pays tribute

The Southern India Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI) also condoled Mr. Sivasailam's death. Terming his demise a shock to industry, SICCI secretary G. Raghavan said he was an exceptional human being and an outstanding leader.

“A man far ahead of his times, he epitomised the dauntless entrepreneurial spirit. His life and achievements prove that man can achieve the impossible by confidence, courage and conviction,” Mr. Raghavan said.

Mr. Sivasailam was the chairman of the Consultative Committee of City Chambers of which the SICCI was a member, Mr. Raghavan noted. The industrialist was gifted with power and vision to alter the course of Indian industry.
