Karaikal branch of JIPMER to function from August

The Karaikal branch of Jawaharlal Institute of Post-graduate Medical Education and Research, Puducherry, will start functioning with an initial intake of 50 students in August. Arrangements for temporary accommodation of classrooms, administrative office and Dean chamber besides hostel are being made, according to P. Parthiban, Collector.

Accompanied by PWD and JIPMER officials, the Collector visited the campus at Arasalar where the old buildings are being renovated for temporary accommodation of the academic and administrative blocks.

He said the Union Territory government had identified a site of 80 acres where the master complex of the college and the hospital would be built. Till then, Karaikal Government Hospital and the PHCs in the periphery would be utilised by the branch college.
