Actor Kamal Haasan took to Twitter on Thursday to quell speculation about him announcing the formation of a political party on November 7.
In one of his regular columns in a Tamil magazine, Mr. Haasan had said he would be meeting with the members of the welfare association he runs and that a big announcement could be expected.
Speculation soon followed about the possibility of the actor announcing the formation of a party. Mr. Haasan, however, dismissed the rumours and tweeted stating that it was his usual practice to hold an annual meeting of members of the welfare association.
There has been constant speculation on the actor’s entry into the politics and the formation of a party. Mr. Haasan had earlier met the Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal, and the Chief Minister of Kerala Pinarayi Vijayan. He has also been critical of the functioning of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam government
