As many as 53 organisations recruited 4,372 youths in the job mela organised on behalf of the AIADMK’s Gobichettipalayam unit on Thursday. The recruitment process attracted 9,116 candidates from Sathyamangalam, Gobichettipalaya, Bhavani and Anthiyur.‘Gho puja’ initiated by former Minister and Gobichettipalayam MLA K.A. Sengottaiyan for early assumption of Chief Minister's post by party leader Jayalalithaa.
Salaries
The chosen candidates received jobs with monthly salaries ranging from Rs. 7,000 to Rs. 25,000.
Shivachariyars conducted the 'Gho Pooja' on a massive stage erected on the premises of a marriage hall in Gobichettipalayam.
Medical camp
A medical camp and free feeding of poor was also conducted, in to mark former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa's birthday. Anthiyur ML A Ramanitharan and Bhavani MLA Narayanan also took part.
Welfare benefits
About 670 persons donated eyes, and welfare benefits were distributed to 1,000 persons, organisers said.
Environment Minister Thoppu N.D. Venkatachalam took part in a special puja conducted by the HR and CE Department at Bhavani
Sangameswarar Temple. Tirupur Member of Parliament V. Sathyabama, and other senior party leaders took part.
