He was born on August 21, 1907, at Boothapandi to Pattan Pillai and Umayammai. In 1936, he was elected as the general secretary of the Tamil Nadu Congress Socialist party and started a weekly ‘Jana Sakthi’ in 1937. He was elected as the vice-president of Vickramasingapuram spinning mill in 1946 and passed away on January 18, 1963.

Rajya Sabha MP A. Vijaykumar garlanded the statue of Jeevanantham in his native village Boothapandi and offered floral tributes to the portrait of the leader kept at the residence of his grandson Jeeva Ganesan in Boothapandi.
