Electioneering is all set to move to top gear as All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary and Chief Minister Jayalalithaa lands here on Thursday to address the election campaign meeting to be organised at Vaagaiyadi Corner in Tirunelveli Town around 2 p.m.
Ms. Jayalalithaa, who will reach Vaagaikulam airport in neighbouring Tuticorin district in a chartered plane, will take a helicopter and land at the helipad in Armed Reserve Police Grounds in Palayamkottai around 1.45 p.m. and address at Vaagaiyadi Corner meeting around 2 p.m. to mobilise support for party's Mayoral candidate for Tirunelveli Corporation Vijila Sathyanand and other contestants fielded for various positions in the urban and the rural civic bodies.
“Since the outgoing mayor of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam had failed miserably to augment infrastructure facilities within the corporation, the electorate, who have already witnessed the fulfilling of electoral promises by the Chief Minister, will certainly back the AIADMK candidate overwhelmingly,” former Minister and Tirunelveli MLA Nainar Nagendran told reporters here on Wednesday.
“The Chief Minister's campaign will ensure the victory for our candidates in the district.”
Former Mayor A. Jayarani and party office-bearers were present.
