Jayalalithaa thanks Modi for wishes

The Prime Minister had greeted Ms. Jayalalithaa on Twitter after she was sworn in as Chief Minister on Saturday.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Sunday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and her Andhra Pradesh counterpart Chandrababu Naidu for their greetings on her assuming office for the fifth time.

“I thank you for your congratulations and good wishes on my being sworn in as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for the fifth time. I convey my best wishes to you,” she said in letters to Mr. Modi and Mr. Jaitely, according to an official release.

The Prime Minister had greeted Ms. Jayalalithaa on Twitter after she was sworn in as Chief Minister on Saturday. Mr. Jaitley too, had greeted her and said the Centre would maintain best relationship with the Tamil Nadu Government.

The release said Mr. Naidu called Jayalalithaa over phone on Sunday and congratulated her and she thanked him for his wishes.
