BJP leader and Union Minister of State for Finance and Shipping Pon. Radhakrishnan on Wednesday alleged that the jallikattu protests of last year were a trial run organised by terrorist organisations.

He said the people of Tamil Nadu were now suffering as a result of the inaction of the government during the agitation.

“Maoists, Muslim terrorists and terrorist organisations that speak of separatism in the name of Tamil are intent on disturbing the peace in the State,” Mr. Radhakrishnan said.

When asked if the State government was behaving in a dictatorial manner by arresting those who opposed various projects, Mr. Radhakrishnan said it was not sarvaadhikaaram (dictatorship) and urged the government to use sarva adhikaaram (all power) against protesters.

Mr. Radhakrishnan also expressed happiness over the announcement of the site for the AIIMS in Tamil Nadu, and said the hospital’s foundation stone-laying ceremony would be held soon.

BJP State president Tamilisai Soundararajan too expressed joy over the announcement on AIIMS and said it would provide quality medical care to the common man.
