IT officials search library

Income-Tax officials conducted a search at the District Central Library here late on Friday night following information that bundles of cash had been stocked on the library premises. However, the tip-off proved to be a hoax.

S.P. Amrith, Sub-Collector and Returning Officer for the Pudukottai Assembly segment and the Election Expenditure Observer, got a tip-off that cash bundles had been dumped at the library for onward distribution among voters.

A team of Income-Tax officials led by Sekar and Flying Squad team led by Karuppiah opened each and every bag containing books. The search lasted two hours till 9.30 p.m.
