I-T case against Jayalalithaa, Sasikala adjourned to July 24

The Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate here on Monday adjourned the cases relating to non-filing of Income-Tax (I-T) returns against the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) General Secretary and Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, and her friend Sasikala, to July 24.

The Additional CMM, R. Dhakshinamurthy adjourning the hearing in the case followed an application filed by the lawyers representing Ms. Jayalalithaa and Sasikala, informing the Court that both of them have filed an application before the Income-Tax Authorities seeking "compounding" of the alleged offences against them.

There are four cases against Ms. Jayalalithaa and Ms. Saala, going back to the early 1990s', for alleged non-filing of I-T returns including two as partners of 'Sasi Enterprises'.
