An attempt by Coimbatore-based Makkal Auto to introduce call-auto services in Perundurai town has been disrupted due to obstacles caused by existing operators affiliated to trade unions.

Attacked

Four persons were injured in a clash that erupted between the two groups of drivers at Perundurai town on Saturday, according to two FIRs registered by the Perundurai Police.

Sasikumar, a driver attached to Makkal Auto and Chandrakumar, Manager, who sustained injuries when he tried to rescue the former from the other group, were admitted to the Erode Government. They preferred a complaint seeking action against their attackers.

Two drivers of the opposite group Amuthan and Shanmugam were also admitted to the Perundurai Government Hospital.

The duo had stated in their counter complaint that they were injured in an attack by the Makkal Auto drivers.

The Makkal Auto had, through a franchisee, introduced its services in Perundurai town a week back.

However, the move triggered verbal clashes between the drivers of the two groups.

After having elicited encouraging public response in Coimbatore city, the Makkal Auto has introduced its services in Perundurai with an idea of extending it to the rest of the district in the coming months.
