Intense drive on to make two villages open defecation-free

Aruthrapattu and Kananthampoondi villages in Tiruvannamalai Panchayat Union are to be declared open defecation-free by August 31.

To help achieve this goal, a special awareness camp was organised in Kananthampoondi village on Thursday. Project Officer District Rural Development Agency M. Kalidasan and other officials participated in it.

In this regard, social mapping of the village was done. Houses without toilets, areas where open defecation take place and combined sanitary complex for women were marked in the map of the village. People were asked to expedite construction individual toilets and achieve the status of ‘Open Defection Free’ village by August 31.

Pudu Vazhvu Thittam District Manager C. Sevathan and Tiruvannamalai Panchayat Union Commissioner V. Sivakumar were among those who participated in the event.
