"New alliance will propagate Gujarat model of development," says former BJP State president and senior party leader L. Ganesan

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) combine in Tamil Nadu will pose a stiff challenge to All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam in the Lok Sabha elections, former BJP State president and senior party leader L. Ganesan said here on Monday.

“It will be an alliance with the BJP as a constituent. Informal talks are in progress with four to five parties. The official dialogue is yet to begin with any party. Nothing more can be divulged at this stage,” Mr. Ganesan told reporters.

On DMK president M. Karunanidhi’s statement on alliance with Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK), Mr. Ganesan said, “It is for the DMDK to decide which alliance it would be happy to be in.”

As an alternative to the two main Dravidian parties, the new alliance the BJP was working for would fight the polls propagating the Gujarat model of development for the country.

“Attempts made by the Congress and Communist parties to drive a wedge between people on communal lines will not work,” Mr. Ganesan said.

On the Aam Aadmi Party’s success in Delhi, he said people of Tamil Nadu would not be taken in by just promises.
