Identification parade of murder suspects in Vellore prison on Friday

The parade will take place in the presence of a Judicial Magistrate in Vellore Central Prison where Fakruddin and Malik are lodged

An identification parade to facilitate eyewitnesses recognise the assailants involved in the murder of Hindu Munnani State secretary S. Vellaiyappan in Vellore on July 1 this year will be held on Friday, sources in the Crime Branch CID said on Tuesday.

The Special Investigation Division of the CBCID had arrested three persons – Fakruddin alias ‘Police’ Fakruddin, Bilal Malik and Panna Ismail – in connection with the murder. The parade will take place in the presence of a Judicial Magistrate in Vellore Central Prison where Fakruddin and Malik are lodged, according to sources.

Ismail who suffered a bullet injury when police raided a hideout in Puttur (Andhra Pradesh) was operated upon at the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital here and later shifted to Puzhal Central Prison. A separate identification parade would be held there, the sources said.

Motorcycle seized

Based on the information revealed by the suspects during custodial interrogation, investigators seized a motorcycle used to commit the murder. “We are in the process of collecting material evidence. After identification parade, steps will be taken to file chargesheet in the Vellore murder case,” a police official said.

Meanwhile, police have sent computer-aided portraits of Abubakkar Siddique, the alleged brain behind the murders of BJP functionaries in Tamil Nadu, to all State police headquarters across the country.

A Look Out Circular (LOC) has already been issued to the immigration authorities in all airports/seaports to detain Siddique.
