ID cards to beneficiaries of medical insurance scheme before Nov. 15

Collector instructs officials to speed up the process

N. Sundaradevan, Principal Secretary and Commissioner of Revenue Administration (CRA), has instructed the Collectors to issue identity cards to the beneficiaries of the Kalaignar Kaapeetu Thittam before November 15.

Mr. Sundaradevan and Girija Vaidyanathan, Project Officer, Tamil Health Systems Project (TNHSP), jointly held a review meeting through video conferencing on Tuesday.

The Chief Minister had instructed to issue ID cards to the two lakh left over beneficiary families in the State during the recent review meeting in Chennai.

During the meeting with the CRA and Project Officer, TNHSP, over video conferencing, Collector V. Arun Roy said as on October 28, 3,99,649 families have registered for the insurance scheme. Of this, 3,88,120 cards were received by the district administration and 3,85,052 distributed to the beneficiary families. As many as 3, 068 ID cards were returned to the Star Health and Allied Insurance Company for corrections. With these 14,597 ID is yet to be distributed to the beneficiaries.

Hearing the version from Mr. Roy, the officials gave instructions to speed up the issue of ID cards with the assistance of the employees of the Star Health and Allied Insurance Company well before November 15.

During the video conferencing P. Prabhakar, District Revenue Officer, S. Annamalai, Special Deputy Collector, Social Security Scheme, Dr. Palaniammal, Joint Director, Health Services, among others were present.
