A Division Bench of the Hyderabad High Court comprising Chief Justice Kalyanjyothi Sen Gupta and Justice P.V.Sanjay Kumar on Thursday ordered for the second post-mortem on the body of Sasikumar, one of the woodcutters who died in the police firing in Seshachalam hills.

The Bench wanted this to be done by a team of senior doctors who are to be nominated by Director of Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), Hyderabad. The body is at Tiruvenveli, Tamil Nadu.

The Bench was passing these orders in a writ petition wherein Muniammal widow of Sasikumar is one of the petitioners. It may be recalled that the dead bodies of all the 20 victims were handed over to the relatives by the A.P. Police.

She had sought a second post-mortem while making several allegations against the police. Initially the case was filed by Chandrasekhar of Civil Liberties Committee.

The expenses shall be met by the A.P. government. The doctors of Tirupati who conducted the first post-mortem last week can be present. The contents of the report of the second post-mortem shall not be divulged and it shall be submitted to the court in sealed cover. The case will be listed on Monday to facilitate the A.P. government to submit the first post-mortem reports of other dead bodies.
