Puducherry has a number of institutions and organisations named after Jawaharlal Nehru who had described Puducherry as ‘a window of French culture’. The premier medical college-JIPMER- was named after Nehru in the wake of the shifting of the medical college from the town to D. Nagar in 1964. There is also an Agriculture College at Karaikal and a Bal Bhavan in Pondicherry which are named after Nehru.
