More than 200 employees and their family members were screened at a heart care camp organised by the Medical Branch of Salem Railway Division on Friday.

The employees and the family members were screened for symptoms of heart ailments.

Medical tests such as blood sugar, blood pressure, echo cardiogram and ECG were carried out on the participants. They were checked for symptoms such as chest pains, difficulty in breathing, irregular pulse, pain in shoulders, giddiness or sweating for no visible reasons.

About 30 persons were diagnosed to have serious heart ailments and have been advised further medical care such as undergoing angioplasty/cardiac surgery, depending upon the exigency.

At the camp, Lakshmi Jain, Sudhakar of Bangalore Narayana Hridayalaya, along with their team of technicians, carried out the screening, along with M. Narasimham, Additional Chief Medical Superintendent, Salem Railway Division.
