The Madras High Court on Thursday vacated an interim injunction of August 17 this year directing authorities concerned not to publish the results of the Group-IV services examination conducted by the government.
The interim order was passed on petitions filed by Murugan and Chinnasamy who sought the quashing of a notification of April 27 pursuant to which the examination was conducted on July 7 for 10,718 vacancies in various departments. The petitioners prayed for a direction to the TNPSC to conduct a fresh examination with proper question paper to candidates. They said the question papers given to them did not carry many questions.
In the interim order, the court said, however, the valuation of the answer sheets and other proceedings may go on. It was made clear that the results alone should not be published until further orders. When petitions came up for hearing on Thursday, the TNPSC’s counsel submitted that 13 candidates were affected by the supply of defective question papers. Therefore, fresh exams were held on September 27.
Out of the 13 candidates, nine, including the petitioners, appeared for the exam. As the petitioner’s counsel submitted that he had no further grievance, the court said it was disposing of the petitions recording the TNPSC’s submission.
