June 22, 2013 11:34 am | Updated 11:34 am IST - CHENNAI:

The Madras High Court has granted an interim injunction restraining G. Chandrababu from officiating as the Registrar of the Tamil Nadu Homoeopathy Medical Council. Justice D. Hariparanthaman passed the interim order on a petition by R. Gnanasambandam of Royapettah here, a homoeopathy doctor for the past 28 years.

The petitioner submitted that Mr. Chandrababu was appointed as Registrar in July last year in a very secretive manner without following the mandatory procedure prescribed under the Tamil Nadu Homoeopathy System of Medicine and Practitioners of Homoeopathy Act and regulations. The Judge said that Mr. Chandrababu was more than 59 years when he applied for the post pursuant to an advertisement.

In the advertisement, the age limit of 59 years had been prescribed.
