Young graduates should have a burning desire to achieve their goals.

They should become job providers rather than job seekers, said Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University Vice-Chancellor S. Thangasamy.

Delivering graduation day address at GTN Arts College here on Tuesday, he said that self-appraisal was an essential tool not only to rectify their mistakes but also to identify and bring out their positive straits and apply them to go up in their career and life.

Positive energy would motive youths to work with more vigour and enthusiasm, and wipe out pessimistic thoughts from their mind.

The students should not get demoralised by insults, but should use them as stepping stones to achieve success.

They should mould themselves to face tough situations, he said.

Mere education would not suffice to achieve in life. The youths should acquire knowledge.

Students should be prepared to lose a few things such as anger, jealous, greed and laziness to gain knowledge.

Anger was the first enemy preventing your growth. “Controlling one’s senses and emotions is the step to go up,” he added.

Later, Mr. Thangasamy honoured university toppers with medals and awards. A total of 879 students received their degrees.

R. Saranya, (M.Sc., Chemistry) and Isaq Manoor (M.Com) were the first rank holders. N. Muthulakshmi, P. Arun Pandian, G. Manjula, N. Suresh Kumar, B. Suganya and K. Vigneshwaran were among the 15 rank holders honoured with medals.
