Thanks to steady rainfall in Kundri hills, Gunderipallam reservoir has started overflowing, much to the delight of farming community in the surrounding villages of Kongarpalayam, Vaniputhur, Kavundampalayam, Panchathurayampalayam, and Arasankottai.

Water from the dam with canal systems on both sides and an ayacut area of 2,498 acres was released for irrigation at the start of this month. At the time of water release, the reservoir had a storage of 105.17 million cubic feet of which 82.54 million cubic feet was envisaged for irrigation. The water was planned for release in four staggered stages spread over 42 days. Presently, the water release was in the midst of the second stage.
