Direct income tax collections (excluding TDS) from Tirupur district has exceeded targets and registered a growth of 22.4 per cent in 2014-15 vis-à-vis 2013-14 fiscal. The growth is more than average growth rate in tax collections in the country, according to Chief Income Tax Commissioner K.K. Misra.
Disclosing the direct tax collections data for Tirupur district during 2014-15 fiscal, Mr. Misra said that the net direct tax collection, after reducing the refund of excess tax remittance to the tune of Rs. 91.90 crore, stood at Rs. 690.84 crore. “The target for 2014-15 was Rs. 676.63 crore, which means the collections exceeded by Rs. 14.21 crore,” he added.
Earlier, Mr. Misra inaugurated the ‘Aaykar Seva Kendra’, facility of single window system for registration of tax payers’ applications and returns as well as for obtaining information regarding various services/status of applications, at the Income Tax office here on Tuesday.
“Even grievances of tax payers are registered at the centre and acknowledged through unique identifier for tracking out the requests till it get resolved,” IT officials said. Commissioner of Income Tax Ajith Kumar Varma and Principal Income Tax Commissioners Ramalingam and Vasantha Kumar were present.
