The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) on Monday urged the territorial administration to fix fee structure for private schools in Puducherry.
A. Anbalagan, secretary of AIADMK’s Puducherry unit, told reporters here that though Puducherry had a large number of matriculation, CBSE and ICSE schools, there was no proper mechanism to monitor the collection of tuition and other fee charged by the school managements.
There were reports that the schools were collecting exorbitant sums in the name of various fee from the students and such attitude of school managements should not be allowed to continue as it would lead to complete commercialisation of school education.
Parents were finding it extremely difficult to pay the fee demanded by many of the school managements. No action has been taken so far despite the AIADMK raising the issue before the government on several occasions.
The government was still soft towards the private educational institutions, he charged.
Mr. Anbalagan said that though most of the government owned corporations were in financial crisis, the Chief Minister continued to appoint his loyalists to the corporations.
The backdoor and illegal appointments could not be accepted, he said.
