Government promises drinking water to all localities in State

Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Monday said her government would ensure drinking water for all the localities in the State after making a survey of the requirement.

Intervening during the question hour, the AIADMK regime in between 2001 and 2006 did three surveys in five years and achieved the goal of providing drinking water to every locality within a fixed timeframe.

Earlier, Municipal Administration and Rural Development Minister K.P.Munusamy said the Hogenakkal composite drinking water scheme would benefit 30 lakh people in Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri districts.

Responding to CPI (M) member P. Dillibabu's request for electricity connection to three villages – Karapadi, Nadur and Naatanvalavu –Electricity Minister Natham P. Viswanathan said the government had not received any application seeking electricity connection.

He, however, promised to give electricity supply to these villages after obtaining permission from the Forest department.
