Free health camp organised; blood donors honoured

Honouring doctors and volunteers who donated blood, special health camp at a Home for the Aged and presenting awards to staff nurses and representatives of service organisations formed Doctors’ Day celebrations in the district on Friday.

The free health camp, conducted every year under the auspices of Gandhi World Foundation, was inaugurated by D. Parimala Devi, Dean and Special Officer, Pudukottai Government Medical College and Hospital. Doctors V. C. Subash Gandhi and D. Gunaseeli screened the patients. S. Swaminathan, Project Officer, Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme, explained the eligibility norms and relief available under the scheme.

Doctors and volunteers who donated blood were honoured at a function organised by Team Hospital. K. H. Salim, Managing Director of the hospital, spoke. S. Syed Mohideen, Joint Director of Health and Rural Welfare, gave away certificates to donors.
